The center

A medical institution with in-house technology.

NexusMed is the only medical center in Latin America operating with in-house apheresis technology. The GEMA device, used in every one of our procedures, is developed by Apheresis Technology, NexusMed's sister company with a presence in more than 850 clinical centers across a dozen countries.

This integration between technology development and clinical practice is uncommon in the field. It allows our medical team to maintain direct control over the quality of every procedure, refine protocols using real clinical data, and offer patients a technical continuity that clinics relying on outside suppliers cannot replicate.

Clinical Conditions

Clinical areas where our protocols carry the strongest evidence.

NexusMed focuses its practice on conditions where the combination of therapeutic plasmapheresis, cell therapy and regenerative medicine has documented clinical support. We don't treat everything. We treat where we can generate measurable impact.

01 · Clinical area

Autoimmune diseases

Therapeutic plasmapheresis physically removes the pathological antibodies that attack healthy tissue. Recognized by ASFA as a first-line treatment for multiple autoimmune conditions.

Conditions we treat

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Systemic vasculitis
  • Scleroderma
  • Antiphospholipid syndrome
  • Behçet's disease
  • Other immune-mediated conditions
02 · Clinical area

Neurological diseases

Several autoimmune neurological conditions carry an ASFA category I indication for plasmapheresis. Our protocols are designed to remove the autoantibodies responsible for neurological damage.

Conditions we treat

  • Guillain-Barré syndrome
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Multiple sclerosis (selected forms)
  • Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy
  • Autoimmune encephalitis
  • Neuromyelitis optica

Paciente · Guayaquil, Ecuador
Condición: Esteatohepatitis no alcohólica avanzada
He referido pacientes desde entonces.
Médico referente · Bogotá, Colombia

Frequently asked questions

Direct answers to real questions.

Therapeutic apheresis is a medical procedure that separates blood components to selectively remove one of them — usually plasma with its pathological contents — and return the rest to the patient. It is an established medical procedure, distinct from dialysis (which removes waste in patients with kidney failure) and from intravenous therapies (which add substances). It has well-established clinical indications in autoimmune, neurological and other diseases.

No. No serious medical center guarantees results, since the response to any treatment depends on individual patient variables. We share with the patient the available clinical evidence, the expected outcomes based on the medical literature, and the known limitations of each procedure.

Regulatory status varies by procedure and country. Therapeutic apheresis is an internationally established medical procedure. Cell therapy and other regenerative medicine interventions have different regulatory frameworks depending on the country. We discuss the applicable regulatory framework for each procedure with every patient before treatment begins.

It depends on the clinical case. In some cases, our procedures are the primary indication (for example, plasmapheresis in Guillain-Barré syndrome). In oncology, our practice is strictly complementary to the patient's primary cancer treatment and always coordinated with the treating oncology team.

The first consultation lasts 60 to 90 minutes. It includes a complete review of the medical history, physical exam, discussion of clinical goals and definition of the diagnostic plan. For international patients, it can be done virtually before travel.

The duration and magnitude of the clinical response varies depending on the condition, individual patient characteristics and adherence to follow-up recommendations. This is discussed in detail when building the treatment plan.

We coordinate with some international medical insurers. Specific coverage depends on each policy. To verify coverage, we recommend checking before booking the initial consultation.

Through the form on this website, by email at nexusmedclinic@gmail.com or by phone. The clinical coordination team responds within one business day at the latest.
